Description

1976 2002. Upgraded e30 fuel injection and brakes. E21 lsd and seats. 5 speed swapped as well. Engine was rebuilt years ago to tii but due to sitting corrosion has plugged up the coolant passages in the cylinder head. Will need the head removed and cleaned. Rockers need to be done as well. Did have the car running and driving until I found the coolant issue. To many projects need to let some go ...

Our Take:
  • The BMW 2002 is a legendary compact executive car that played a crucial role in establishing BMW's reputation in the sports sedan market. Launched in 1968, this model is revered for its nimble handling and lively driving experience, making it a darling among enthusiasts even today.
  • This 1976 model is a bit special—it's from the final year of the 2002's production. As the last hurrah before the E21 3 Series took over, these later models carried an evolved design and a sense of closing one chapter in BMW's storied history.
  • Upgrades in this particular car make it intriguing for BMW aficionados. The E30 fuel injection system and brake upgrades are notable, as the E30 is famous for its balance and performance. Shifting to a 5-speed manual and incorporating an E21 limited slip differential enhances the drivability and adds a layer of modern functionality to a classic ride.
  • The "tii" engine rebuild nods to the sought-after 2002 tii model, which was distinguished by its mechanical fuel injection system (a big deal in the early 70s). However, be aware that sitting idle has led to corrosion issues in this car; it's a project waiting for someone with a passion to bring it back to life—much like those barn finds we dream about discovering!
