Description

For sale is my 1967 Jaguar XKE. I bought this car in 1985 from the original California owner. For what its worth this is what I was told when I bought the car from the original owner. In 1967 he was good friends with Jim Morrison of the Doors. Jim drove this car on several occasions and was was the main reason he bought a pink one for his girlfriend at the time. The car had 42,000 original miles on it when I bought it. It now has 58,000. In 2002 I sold the car to my uncle in Colorado. H...

Our Take:
  • Iconic Design and Performance: The 1967 Jaguar E-Type, often referred to as the XKE in the U.S., is celebrated not just for its jaw-dropping beauty but also for its engineering prowess. With its sleek, elongated bonnet and powerful inline-six engine, this car was the epitome of '60s sports car design. Enzo Ferrari himself once called it "the most beautiful car ever made," and who could argue with that? It’s a rolling sculpture that goes like stink – a true classic.
  • Celebrity Connection: The alleged history of this car being driven by Jim Morrison of The Doors adds a layer of rock-n-roll mystique to its already legendary status. Whether or not Morrison ever actually took this Jag for a spin, it’s these kinds of stories that make classic car collecting as much about the myth as the machine. Imagine cruising around with the spirit of the '60s rock scene riding shotgun!
  • Meticulously Restored with Modern Enhancements: Having undergone a thorough five-year restoration, this E-Type has been brought back to its former glory and then some. The upgraded 5-speed overdrive gearbox is a huge plus – it offers a great blend of period-correct performance with modern driving ease. And with a rear-end ratio that translates to quick acceleration, you can enjoy the best of both worlds: vintage style with modern convenience.
  • Historical Significance and Collectible Appeal: The 1967 model is especially significant as it marked the end of the Series 1 production, before changes like open headlights and other tweaks were introduced in later models. Low mileage and a well-documented history with spare parts and accessories, like the second set of wire wheels and Pirelli tires, only add to its value as a collector's dream. Plus, having all those receipts is pure gold for authenticity; it’s like finding an album’s liner notes in pristine condition!
