Description

I have a 1971 E Type V12 I am getting ready to sell due to relocation. It is red, body and paint in great condition. Engine is out of car but was running on removal. Their was some knock in the lower end due crank bearing issues. Some bearing erosion was noticed however crank appears to be fine and appears to be rebuildable. All items are complete. A nice project car, no rust. Would also make a great electric conversion, ...

Our Take:
  • V12 Powerplant: The 1971 Jaguar E-Type V12 is a classic testament to British engineering, boasting a 5.3-liter V12 engine that was a marvel of its time. This was the first year the E-Type got the V12, and despite the current mechanical issues, the heart of this big cat is a rare piece of automotive art. Picture James Bond in a tuxedo—smooth yet powerful.
  • Automatic Transmission Rarity: While purists might frown, the automatic transmission in an E-Type with a V12 is somewhat of a rarity. Most enthusiasts lean towards the manual, so finding an automatic adds a layer of uniqueness (or convenience) for those preferring a more relaxed driving style. Who doesn't appreciate a leisurely cruise without a clutch?
  • Iconic Design: The Jaguar E-Type is often hailed as one of the most beautiful cars ever made, famously admired by Enzo Ferrari himself. It embodies the swinging '60s and early '70s style, with its long hood and swooping lines that make it an iconic choice for car collectors and enthusiasts alike. It's the automotive version of wearing bell-bottoms and a Beatles haircut.
  • Potential for Restoration Project: With the engine out and a minor knock issue, this E-Type presents a fantastic opportunity for someone looking for a restoration project. The idea of an electric conversion is intriguing too, though it might stir debate among traditionalists—imagine preserving the classic lines while embracing futuristic power!
