Our Take:
  • The BMW 2002 is an iconic model from the "Neue Klasse" series, marking a pivotal point in BMW's history. It played a crucial role in establishing BMW's reputation for sporty and driver-focused cars. The 2002 is often credited with laying the groundwork for the beloved 3 Series lineup.
  • This 1973 model, painted in its original Malaga Red, carries a certain charm. While it's been repainted over the years, the color itself is part of the era's aesthetic—a bold hue that complements the car's spirited character. It's the kind of color that stands out at classic car meets, catching the eye of enthusiasts.
  • The transmission upgrade to a 5-speed manual is a noteworthy modification. While not factory original, it enhances the driving experience by allowing for a more engaging and versatile performance. Many enthusiasts value this upgrade for the improved highway cruising and spirited driving it provides.
  • Despite some patchwork on the undercarriage, the seller mentions very little rust—quite a feat for a car that's seen five decades of life. It's a testament to the car's build quality and the care taken by previous owners. A rust-free 2002 is a gem, particularly for those who appreciate classic European craftsmanship.
