Description

1974 FJ-40. 4 Speed Manual. Hard and soft top included. I have owned this vehicle since 2015. It has a clean Virginia title in my name. It has rust in the common FJ places. It needs a throw out bearing and the brakes need adjusted. It has drums all the way around. It is driveable but with the brakes out of adjustment it is not very safe to drive. I have put alot of work into this baby since I have owned it but it is time to let someone else enjoy it. This is a very unique vehicle. If you are not...

Our Take:
  • Classic Off-Road Icon: The 1974 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ-40 is regarded as a legendary off-road vehicle, particularly praised for its rugged durability and timeless design. It's the kind of vehicle that looks just as at home in the outback as it does pulling up to a trendy urban cafe. You know those movies where the hero drives through impossible terrain? There's a good chance their ride was something like this.
  • Rarity and Collectibility: While Land Cruisers have long been popular globally, finding one like this with both hard and soft tops is a bit of a gem, especially in the United States. The FJ-40 has always had a cult following; it's the sort of vehicle that inspires clubs and gatherings, where stories and journeys are shared among enthusiasts.
  • Patina and Character: This FJ-40 shows its journey with some rust in those "common FJ places," which many enthusiasts actually see as a badge of honor. After all, isn't it thrilling to own a vehicle that bears the marks of its adventures? It reminds us that cars aren't just machines—they're companions on the road of life.
  • Driving Experience: Equipped with a 4-speed manual transmission and 4WD capabilities, this FJ-40 is all about that tactile, hands-on driving experience. Sure, it needs a throw-out bearing and brake adjustments, but that's part of the charm. Tinkering with and tuning such a vehicle is akin to communicating with it; you learn its quirks and it rewards you with endless journeys.
