Our Take:
  • Iconic Rotary Engine: The 1991 Mazda RX-7 is part of a legendary lineage known for its rotary engine, a hallmark of Mazda engineering. Unlike standard piston engines, rotary engines are known for their compact size and high-revving nature—it's a bit like the hummingbird of the automotive world. This model boasts a naturally aspirated motor, which offers a distinct experience compared to the turbocharged variants.
  • T2 Drivetrain and Transmission: This RX-7 has been fitted with a T2 drivetrain and manual transmission, which is often coveted by enthusiasts for its engaging driving dynamics. The manual gearbox offers a connected driving experience, harking back to a time when shifting gears was all about feel—not sensors.
  • Recent Engine Rebuild: With only 2,000 miles since a rebuild by Eddy Renown—a name that carries weight in the rotary community—this RX-7 should be in great mechanical health. The comprehensive work including the clutch, pressure plate, and flywheel replacements means many of the common wear parts are brand new, offering peace of mind to the next owner.
  • Returning to Stock: While the car currently has some aftermarket parts, the seller’s decision to return it to stock provides a blank canvas for purists or a fresh start for potential mods. This also means original parts are likely to be in good condition, which is a rarity when you're dealing with a classic from the 90s. It's kind of like an automotive time capsule, waiting for its next chapter.
