Description

I am selling my 2002 Toyota crown royal because it has gone into limp mode due to the tcv not working correctly witch is the tumble control valves, it’s a pretty easy fix I just have two other projects. The car will still start and drive still tho ...

Our Take:
  • The 1997 Toyota Crown is a gem in Toyota's lineup that might not ring a bell for every car enthusiast, primarily because it's not commonly found outside Japan. Known for its sleek styling and luxurious interior for its time, the Crown offered a taste of prestige in a market segment otherwise dominated by more commonplace sedans.
  • While this model usually comes with an automatic transmission, what sets the Crown apart is its reliability and smooth drive, a trademark of Toyota engineering. Despite being over two decades old, if properly maintained, it can still offer a driving experience that's hard to find in newer cars at this price point.
  • Now, don't let the technical issue scare you too much. The trouble with the tumble control valves (TCV) is something that can often be resolved with a bit of elbow grease and the right parts. It's a reminder of how even the most durable cars can need a little TLC (that's Tender Loving Car, by the way).
  • Finally, the mileage might seem hefty, but consider this: Toyota's reputation for longevity means that with a bit of care, this spirited sedan could have plenty of life left. And let's face it, telling your friends you drive a '97 Crown has a certain ring to it—like you're part of a secret club of savvy car enthusiasts.
