Description

Testing the waters on my typhoon. Mechanically the truck is sound. It runs and drives great. Apple red truck, RPO states gray cladding. This truck is 1 of 101. Cladding was paint matched at some point. Previous owner had the engine redone (no paperwork). Transmission has a deep pan, but unsure if it has any work done. It shifts perfect. The truck is all stock besides an exhaust and down pipe. Just put brand new tires on it and did some suspension work as well as maintenance. Air to Water cool...

Our Take:
  • Rarity and Exclusivity: The 1993 GMC Typhoon is truly a gem, especially for those in the know about its limited production. Being 1 of just 101 units in the specific Apple Red with gray cladding combination makes it a collector's delight. Though the cladding was paint matched, this hasn’t diminished its rarity in the classic car circles.
  • Performance Legend: This SUV was a powerhouse for its time, featuring a turbocharged 4.3-liter V6 that's closely related to the one in the iconic GMC Syclone. With an automatic transmission that shifts perfectly, as this seller notes, it was quite ahead of any other sporty SUVs back in the early '90s. Perfect for those who appreciate a bit of unexpected speed.
  • Condition and Maintenance: The listing mentions a chassis restoration and sound mechanicals, which should give potential buyers confidence in its longevity. Although there's no paperwork for the engine rebuild, the recent suspension work and new tires suggest it's been well-cared for. This makes it a practical choice for those who want a classic that can still be driven regularly.
  • Potential for Personalization: With included extras like doors and engine accessories, there's a lot of room for customization. The current owner plans to repaint it, which means you could get your hands on it before any changes are made—or collaborate on the restoration. Either way, it presents a unique opportunity for personal restoration projects.
