Description

1992 GMC Typhoon AWD 4.3L Turbo. These trucks are super rare and 518 were Frost White in 1992. I’ve had this truck a little over a year and gotten it pretty perfect. The white paint is pretty new and shows great. All trim and cladding are present and not broken. It has C4 Corvette Turbine Wheels and new tires (275/40/17), but I also have a set of Syclone/Typoon Wheels/Caps/Keys to be included if the price is right. Our Take:
  • Historical Significance: The 1992 GMC Typhoon was part of a brief yet fascinating experiment in high-performance SUVs during the early '90s. Derived from the GMC S-15 Jimmy, it boasted a unique formula combining AWD with a turbocharged 4.3L V6. At the time, it was one of the fastest accelerating vehicles in its class—with 0-60 mph times rivaling sports cars of the era.
  • Rarity and Color Specifics: Only 2,497 Typhoons were produced in 1992, making them quite the collector’s item. With only 518 units in the Frost White color, this specific shade adds another layer of rarity. It's not just a truck; it's a conversation piece at any car meet or gathering.
  • Performance Enhancements: This Typhoon has been tastefully upgraded to modernize its performance. The inclusion of dual electric fans, a forged wastegate, and an upgraded ignition system suggests a focus on reliability and efficiency. These tweaks highlight the potential still hidden beneath its 30-year-old skin, offering a spirited ride with a nod to its turbocharged roots.
  • Wheels and Extras: Sporting C4 Corvette Turbine Wheels, this Typhoon isn't just about straight-line speed; it's an aesthetic marvel too. With the original Syclone/Typhoon wheels included as an option, buyers have the opportunity to blend customization with OEM charm. The billet adapter for a 4L80E conversion hints at potential for heavy-duty transmission upgrades, should the new owner wish to explore future enhancements.
