Our Take:
  • The 1992 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 is a bit of a unicorn in the automotive world. It's part of the famed Japanese sports car trio of the 90s, alongside legends like the Nissan 300ZX and Toyota Supra. Known for its advanced technology for its time, the 3000GT VR-4 boasted all-wheel drive and active aero systems that even today lend it a certain pièce de résistance among car aficionados.
  • This particular 3000GT features an engine swap to a 6G74, which isn't exactly factory-standard. The 6G74, a larger 3.5-liter V6, provides more displacement than the original 3.0-liter twin-turbo engine. It’s a bit like swapping out the heart of a thoroughbred racehorse—gaining power and performance benefits that only a few would dare to covet.
  • The car comes equipped with Arashi 20T turbos, which hail from Japan and promise a boost in power delivery. In combination with the CXRacing intercooler kit and the chromed Jester ECU, this setup is akin to giving the car a caffeine shot; it’s not for the faint of heart. Just bear in mind that it's "in between tunes," much like a guitarist tweaking his strings for that perfect note.
  • Despite some rough edges—the kind that give it character, you might say—like paint damage and a blower motor issue, this 3000GT is a testament to the era of analog driving pleasure. The manual transmission and potential for thrilling turbo boost (once fully tuned) make it a compelling choice for those who relish a project with a rewarding payout on the open road. Riding in this car is like strapping into a piece of automotive history, blemishes and all.
