Description

I’ve sadly decided to part with my 505 Wagon. It’s been a project that I simply don’t have time for. The car is not running - and it hasn’t run for any extended period since I purchased it two years ago. I replaced the fuel pump (both in-line and in-tank) and lines and dumped the tank. Fuel flows freely, but engine won’t run on anything other than starter fluid. I bought a set of new old stock injectors but haven’t had time to put them in. The engine is all there - just pulled apart to all...

Our Take:
  • French Flair and American Memories: The Peugeot 505 Wagon, especially from the '80s, is a delightful slice of French automotive culture that many Americans may have forgotten. Though it's seen better days in terms of prestige, this car was once a go-to for families seeking European style and comfort on the American road—think of it as a French take on the Volvo wagon, with a dash of croissant in the mix.
  • Engineering Elegance: Despite its current non-running status, the 505 was known for its ride comfort and robust suspension—something Peugeot was quite proud of. The independent rear suspension provided a smooth ride, setting it apart from other wagons of its era; it was like cruising on a calm sea rather than a bumpy road. Enthusiasts today might find it a rewarding challenge to restore this classic to its original glory.
  • A Rare Find in Today's Market: The 505 Wagon wasn't produced in vast numbers in the U.S., making this particular model something of a unicorn among Peugeot aficionados. The fact that it lacks a title might deter some, but real fans of rare finds understand that sometimes the journey is as valuable as the destination itself—much like a barn find in an automotive treasure hunt.
  • The Story Behind the Scar: The unfortunate damage from the trailer could be seen as a blemish, but think of it more as a talking point—every classic car has its scars and stories. Repairing the hood and lights can be a labor of love, and once done, this 505 Wagon could tell tales from its past with a certain je ne sais quoi that only a Peugeot can possess.
