Description

2000 BMW M5 This is an excellent car that I very much enjoy but after 4+ years of owning, I like it a lot vs love it and it is an "extra" sedan in our house which means it gets less attention than then sedan I enjoy more. Our Take:
  • The 2000 BMW M5 is part of the E39 generation, a model hailed by enthusiasts for its balanced performance and everyday usability. This M5 featured the legendary S62 V8 engine, pumping out a burly 394 horsepower. While today's M5s are tech-heavy and turbocharged, the E39's naturally aspirated engine offers a pure driving experience that many purists crave.
  • With a manual transmission, this particular M5 represents a dwindling breed of driver's cars. As automatics have taken over, the six-speed manual in the E39 M5 is a cherished feature for those who truly love to feel connected to their machine. For a keen driver, this is as good as it gets—an engaging, tactile connection with the road.
  • This M5 has been largely protected from harsh conditions, thanks to its status as a California car and its garage-kept life. Cars from sunny states tend to have less rust and corrosion, making them highly sought after in regions with harsher climates. The maintenance records, showing regular care and attention, add another layer of desirability for prospective buyers.
  • The current owner has lovingly maintained the vehicle, performing key updates such as a rear diff seal replacement and an ABS unit rebuild. Aftermarket tweaks like a rear muffler delete and an upgraded sound system add a personal touch, yet the presence of OEM parts suggests that returning it to stock remains quite feasible. It's like finding a classic guitar—sure, it might have a few new strings, but it can still play that original, timeless tune if you wish.
