Description

Moving to Texas and need to find the 4k a good home to stay at in the PNW. Overall its in good condition. The clear coat needs to be redone. Both subframes were removed a couple years ago and rebuilt the suspension and brakes. The drivetrain was the next on my list. I've owned this car for awhile and its always been good to me; Except for the nagging Audi and German car picadillo's. The door handles on her are a constant struggle. Has the euro headlights as well. Starts and runs; idles smoot...

Our Take:
  • Rarity and Obscurity: The 1987 Audi 4000 Quattro is something of a unicorn these days—it's not often you find these classic Quattro models still on the road. This was Audi's attempt to bring rally-inspired performance to everyday driving, turning heads back in the day for its advanced all-wheel-drive technology.
  • Historical Significance: Launched during the heyday of Audi's rally success, the 4000 Quattro was part of the brand's strategy to cement its reputation as a performance powerhouse. It's a piece of automotive history that harkens back to the Audi's adventurous spirit and innovative engineering from the 1980s.
  • Performance and Features: Featuring a manual transmission, this model offers an engaging driving experience that's often lost in today's automatic-centric world. The inclusion of European headlights adds an extra dash of style and pays homage to its continental roots. German engineering comes with its quirks, though, as noted by the seller with those pesky vacuum leaks and electrical gremlins.
  • Common Issues and Ownership Insights: Anyone who's dabbled with classic German cars knows the struggles mentioned—door handles that test your patience and electrical systems that sometimes have a mind of their own. But hey, isn't that part of the charm of owning an '80s Audi? It's akin to owning a classic vinyl record; a bit scratchy, but oh, the stories it tells.
