Our Take:
- Design Legacy: The 1991 Subaru SVX stands out for its futuristic design—a brainchild of Italian designer Giorgetto Giugiaro. It's hard to miss those unique windows-within-windows; they certainly make for interesting stories at car shows. Dubbed the "spaceship car" by some, the SVX's aesthetics were ahead of its time and still captivate enthusiasts today. - Engineering Marvel: Under the hood, you'll find a 3.3-liter flat-six engine (H6), which was quite innovative for Subaru back then. With 230 horsepower, it was a serious leap compared to the typical all-wheel-drive Subies of the era. Sure, it has an automatic transmission, but hey, the SVX was designed as a grand tourer—to glide smoothly on long drives, not sprint from stoplight to stoplight. - Rarity on the Roads: The SVX wasn't exactly a sales hit, making it a rare find today. In North America, only around 14,000 units were sold over its entire production run. Its scarcity is like finding a needle in a haystack, especially one in good condition like this. Despite the mileage, the well-maintained interior speaks volumes about its care over the years. - Additional Tidbits: This particular SVX retains its classic two-tone color scheme (black and white), which was a popular option back in the day. The seller mentions a bit of rust and some required maintenance, but they've included parts for future repairs. It's a nod to the car's age—an opportunity for a potential buyer who's handy with a wrench and appreciates the charm of keeping a classic on the road.
