Description

Finally deciding to actually sell my SVX. Main issue is it does have a blown head gasket and getting parts for this car is already a headache. Minor body imperfections, good trans, interior looks great. The sun roof doesn’t work and leaks a bit into the headliner. Passenger side windows don’t roll down, ABS and power steering goes in and out. The grille and wheels come with it. One wheel has a small bend on the rim. Open to trades but prefer cash ...

Our Take:
  • The Subaru SVX is a bit of an enigma in the automotive world. Introduced in the early '90s, this car was Subaru’s ambitious leap into the luxury sports coupe arena. Designed by the legendary Giorgetto Giugiaro, its distinctive look (with that quirky window-within-a-window design) still turns heads today. Who wouldn't love to own a piece of '90s innovation that dared to be different?
  • Under the hood, the SVX featured a 3.3L flat-six engine. It was a powerhouse in its time—more than enough to give you a thrilling drive, except for the notorious issue plaguing your listing. Yes, the dreaded head gasket problem; it’s almost part of its legend now. Tackling this issue could be a labor of love, especially when parts are elusive like a rare beast in the wild.
  • You don't see many SVXs on the road, and that rarity can be enticing. Despite its issues, the SVX carved out its niche with a unique combination of luxury and performance that’s hard to find even today. It’s got its quirks, like the sunroof and those stubborn windows, but hey—who’s perfect?
  • The transmission, though automatic, was ahead of its time. Subaru experimented with technology that aimed to deliver smooth and responsive performance. If the gearbox is functioning well, that’s one less thing to worry about. Imagine cruising with that classic '90s vibe—makes you wonder, with a bit of TLC, what memories could this car create for you?
