Our Take:
  • The 1993 Mazda RX-7 is part of the third and final generation of the RX-7 model, known as the FD. These cars are revered for their lightweight chassis and balanced handling—thanks to the near-perfect 50:50 weight distribution. The FD RX-7 is a darling of car enthusiasts and has become increasingly rare as many have been modified or driven into the ground.
  • This particular RX-7 is a right-hand drive (RHD) model, which adds an extra layer of rarity for enthusiasts in the United States. Imported RHD vehicles have a special allure, often imported from Japan where Mazda built these legends. If you enjoy the JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) vibe, this car's setup offers an authentic experience.
  • The car comes with a large street port rotary engine, which amps up the performance potential significantly. Rotary engines are kind of like the punk rock stars of the automotive world—not everyone gets them, but those who do, love them passionately. Be ready to dive into some engine work, though; the unique challenges of rotary engines are part of their charm.
  • While the body and some components need work, including the PPF crack and the missing ECU, there's a strong mechanical foundation with the rebuilt Kaaz LSD and 4.44 gears from an RX-8. Mixing parts from different rotary models is like creating a hot rod—all about the hybrid vigor of true customization! You might need to channel your inner engineer to get it all sorted, but that’s half the fun, isn't it?
