Description

This is a 1940 Oldsmobile Series 60 Convertible that was given a full body-off rebuild about 25 years ago but sat un-driven in a garage for about 25 years (No miles at all). Our Take:
  • A Snapshot of 1940s Design: The 1940 Oldsmobile Series 60 boasted a unique design element that was exclusive to this model year—the 'half-in/half-out' headlight configuration. This quirky design choice was a transitional nod to the fully-integrated headlights we see today, making it a fascinating piece for aficionados of automotive evolution.
  • Rare Convertible Variant: Convertibles from this era are already a treat, but an Oldsmobile Series 60 Convertible is particularly rare. The fact that this model survived with its original parts and has a body-off restoration is like finding a hidden gem tucked away in a barn (or, in this case, a Hollywood garage).
  • Untapped Potential with Hollywood Glamour: This car’s history in Hollywood, CA, adds a touch of glitz and charm. Imagine the stories it could tell from the golden age of film! The vehicle hasn't seen the road in 25 years, yet its excellent physical condition hints at a promising revival with some mechanical TLC.
  • Classic American Powertrain: Housing a robust 230 Flathead-6 engine paired with a 3-speed manual transmission, this Oldsmobile is a testament to pre-war American engineering. Though the powertrain was overhauled years ago, its untouched state since then means it's itching for a project-minded enthusiast to get it purring again.
