Description

I posted a number of Allantes for sale-still have a lot more to go but I was going to wait for spring when they would sell easier-however, a number of people are looking for a Montana Blue car. I have one with 96k miles and this is one I was hoping to keep but as the wife said, you can't keep them all (I was trying though). The car does have some chips on the front of the hood but otherwise I think the only thing it needs is the top rear pulldown-which I pulled off one of the parts cars today an...

Our Take:
  • Unique Italian-American Collaboration: The 1993 Cadillac Allante was the final model year of this unique luxury roadster, and boy, does it have a backstory! Designed with Pininfarina's renowned Italian flair, each Allante body was flown across the Atlantic in specially configured Boeing 747s, a process affectionately dubbed the "Allante Air Bridge." The assembly was then completed in Detroit, making it a true symbol of transatlantic cooperation.
  • Performance and Features: This model year saw the introduction of the Northstar V8 engine, which boosted its power considerably (up to 295 hp), making it more competitive with European luxury convertibles of the time. It was a big deal back then because this engine marked a pivotal moment in Cadillac's quest to redefine itself as a performance-oriented luxury brand.
  • Rarity and Collectibility: With only approximately 21,000 units produced over its 1987-1993 lifetime, and considering the specific color of Montana Blue, this Allante is quite the rare find. These cars are particularly cherished among enthusiasts for their good looks and quirky history. The chips and minor wear mentioned are not uncommon for a vehicle of this age but could be deal-breakers for some—although they also add character to this classic beauty.
  • Market Dynamics: Despite being a Cadillac, the Allante struggled initially with pricing and positioning, yet it has grown a cult following over the years. It's not one of those cars everyone talks about at the diner, but when you do find someone willing to chat about it, they likely know their stuff and appreciate the nuances of this blend of luxury and performance. It's more of a hidden gem for those in the know.
