One of only a 10 known Calibras in the U.S., it was imported from Poland after a 4,000 km European road trip. Meticulously maintained, with recent service including a new timing belt, CV joints, tires, and struts. Currently at 146,000 km (90,000 miles), the car is in excellent mechanical condition with an 9.5/10 overall rating.
Features include a pristine interior, working sunroof, and fully functional electronics. Ideal for collectors or anyone seeking a unique daily driver.
In March 2024, I acquired this my third Opel Calibra, a 1992 2.0L 5 Speed Opel Calibra ( VIN W0L000085N9027428 - Built in Finland in Bogatynia, Poland, with 141,000 kilometers (88,000 miles) on the odometer. Prior to embarking on many adventures, I had the car thoroughly inspected, ensuring all mechanical aspects were in excellent working order. This included a comprehensive service, replacement of the timing belt, CV Joints and tires.
In September 2024, I flew to Poland to begin a 4,000-kilometer (2,500-mile) road trip across Europe. Starting from Bogatynia, the journey took me through Rüsselsheim, Germany, on to Amsterdam in the Netherlands, and then southward to the stunning Millau, France. From there, I continued through Bordeaux before arriving in Caen, where I ferried across to Portsmouth, UK, and finally made my way to Southampton. From Southampton, the car was shipped to Baltimore, Maryland, where I picked it up and completed the trip to Richmond, Virginia. I have posted the map and pictures of the Trip.
Currently, the car has just over 146,000 kilometers (90,000 miles) on it and is ready for pickup. Given my history with this vehicle, I am confident it could be driven anywhere from here. The interior is exceptionally well-preserved, and all electrical components and switches are fully functional, including the optional sunroof. While there are minor imperfections in the rubber trim, the overall condition rates at an 8.5 out of 10.
I’ve truly enjoyed this car and hope someone out there who has been searching for a Calibra in the U.S. will get to experience its charm, along with the photos of its globe-trotting journey across Europe to the States. Selling because that was always the intent. I find good cars, I get them mechanically restored, and then use them as transportation across Europe for a 2-to-4-week vacation. Then bring them home and sell them. Some like my Gold 1996 V-6 Opel Calibra I keep.
ALL my Calibras went through a complete mechanical check and service before driving across Europe this one was no exception.
Services performed on the Blue one :
@141,000KM - New Tires, New CV Joints, New Timing Belt, New Lower Control Arms and bushings, sway bar control links, Fluids. If it was rubber and remotely tired it was replaced to ensure long term use.
@100,000 KM - New Sachs Struts and Shocks
I can arrange shipping or will drive it to you if you are near an airport or train station. As noted this car has never been on a flatbed the entire time I have owned it.
It is as reliable as a car half its age or better. It would make for a unique daily driver. Parts are easy to get even in the US as it shares the motor with other GM products and the chassis with SAAB. Also you can order parts via Amazon. See less
