Description

2002 Audi S8 · Sedan · Driven 164,000 miles D2 S8 black on black 1/50 sold in this combo for 2002. Located in Bend, Oregon. Need to sell since I have lost interest in the 6 speed swap. Picked it up with trans that only works in tiptronic with f125 switch code. Also needs 02 sensors! One is going bad so it's triggered a code and the economy isn't the best. It's also a 360 hp V8 so averaging 15mpg. Still runs and drives with the codes but you need to shift passed third as it's currently not engag...

Our Take:
  • The 2002 Audi S8 is a gem from the early 2000s, boasting a bold 4.2-liter V8 engine that churns out 360 horsepower. This powerplant was quite the charmer back then, offering performance thrills with a touch of luxury that only Audi, with its Quattro all-wheel-drive prowess, could deliver. Plus, the S8 was a real competitor to the likes of the BMW E38 7 Series and Mercedes-Benz W220 S-Class.
  • This particular model is one of only 50 with the black-on-black color scheme sold in 2002, adding an element of rarity to the mix. Such a combo is a nod to the understated elegance Audi enthusiasts admire, and finding one can be as rare as a unicorn in a traffic jam. Moreover, these models gained a slight cult following thanks to their appearance in films like "Ronin," where it featured prominently in high-speed chases.
  • With an automatic transmission that operates in Tiptronic mode and some additional mechanical needs, this S8 is perfect for someone with a knack for tinkering. Audi's tiptronic system was ahead of its time, allowing drivers to enjoy manual-like gear changes without the clutch. Imagine the satisfaction of getting it back to its full glory and feeling that V8 rumble as you shift past third gear!
  • The vehicle offers several premium features, such as sport Recaro seats and a solar sunroof, which are quite fancy even by today's standards. These touches emphasized Audi's commitment to blending performance with luxury. Additionally, the economic sense of a restored Audi S8 with a custom 6-speed swap could turn this project into a rewarding passion—if one is up for the challenge.
