Our Take:
  • Racing Heritage: The 1986 Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.3-16V Cosworth is not just any old Merc; it was born from the crucible of motorsport. Designed with the help of Cosworth, a British engineering company renowned for race car engines, this model aimed to dominate the touring car races of the 1980s. It's often seen as the Bavarian counterpunch to the BMW E30 M3, bringing some serious heat to the track with its high-revving performance.
  • Technical Intricacies: This 190E sports a factory dogleg manual transmission, which is a rare feature that flips the conventional shift pattern—1st gear is down-left, tailored for quick and smooth shifting during races. And let's not forget the suspension upgrade; with Bilstein shocks and H&R springs, the handling is likely to have a sporty edge that you can feel through every bend and sweep.
  • California Dreaming: A life spent under the California sun is a blessing for any classic car. Thanks to its West Coast residency, the Mercedes has likely avoided the rust and decay often seen in cars from harsher climates. Plus, this particular car has a clean Carfax, which means it has dodged significant accidents or mishaps along its journey.
  • Cosmetic and Mechanical Care: Freshly paint-corrected and ceramic-coated, the Black Pearl Metallic finish should glimmer like it's 1986 all over again. The recent comprehensive service at Encino Mercedes ensures it's mechanically sound—a well-loved car ready for both admiration and a spirited drive!
