Description

72 Seat 600. Imported from Spain years ago. Have NY registration. Good winter project. Car starts . Clutch is frozen . Interior is clean. Looks like it was restored years ago. I have no interest in it. Restored ones on FB are selling for 10k and up. Accepting offers....

Our Take:
  • Historical Significance: The Seat 600 is a Spanish icon, produced from 1957 to 1973. It was essentially the car that mobilized Spain, similar to how the VW Beetle did in Germany. This bubbly little vehicle was based on the Fiat 600 but was produced under license by the Spanish automaker SEAT, which was just getting its wheels turning in those years.
  • Rarity and Collectibility: Although the Seat 600 was once a common sight on Spanish streets, finding one in the U.S. is quite the trick! This makes it a rare bird for American collectors, especially since most units were left to the rust gods in their homeland. Intriguingly, a car like this could turn heads not just at classic car shows, but also as a charming conversation starter at a neighborhood barbecue.
  • Mechanical Simplicity: The Seat 600 features a rear-mounted, air-cooled four-cylinder engine. Nothing fancy, but it's part of its charm—kind of like that reliable old wristwatch that just keeps ticking. The car starts, which is a good sign, but you'll need to address that frozen clutch before hitting the road. Luckily, anyone handy with a wrench could tackle it over a couple of weekends.
  • Restoration Appeal: The description notes that the car looks like it was restored years ago, which is a positive sign. Restoring classic cars can be a labor of love and could bring out the nostalgia of a bygone era. Given its clean interior, this Seat 600 could potentially make an exciting winter project that'll keep your petrolhead juices flowing until spring. Who knows, maybe with a bit of elbow grease, it'll be ready to make its debut on the classic car circuit!
