This 1979 Fiat X1/9 has been lovingly brought back to life as a COVID project and is now looking for a new home. Bought as a non-runner with a neglected interior, it’s undergone a comprehensive transformation. A perfect choice for Fiat enthusiasts or anyone looking for a classic mid-engine sports car with modernized touches.
• Interior: Fully redone with soundproofing on floors, doors, and the Targa top for a quieter, more enjoyable ride. new carpet, reupholstered seats.
• Mechanical Updates: New carburetor, distributor, coil, radiator, fans, gear linkage, brakes, calipers, slotted rotors, braided lines, and a high-performance exhaust system with fitted headers from MWB. Also has new struts, tower mount, bump stops, and springs.
• Exterior: Converted to resemble earlier X1/9 models; all new seals, front grille, front air damn (MWB), rear air valence grille, new tires with less than 1000 miles on them. The original bumpers and luggage rack included in the sale along with a box of miscellaneous parts I’ve collected over the last few years.
This car is nearly rust-free, with only a small spot on the rocker (quarter-sized) and a rusty battery tray. It runs like a dream and sounds incredible, though it does have the common issue of slipping out of reverse (just started a few months ago). The turn indicators need to be reinstalled (included and fully functional). odo says 29,000 ish but I'm sure it's rolled over
I have the title from the previous owner – it is currently registered in Vermont (if you know you know) and I HIGHLY suggest you keep it that way. 23 bucks per year for antique registration - this is a necessity for all of us in strict smog states. All the work (except for the headers and exhaust) was done by me over the last few years.
Open to reasonable offers – trades… maybe, but I’m particular. I’ll upload more photos this weekend.
