Description

Very good car I bought in Dallas in 1992. Motor is good and strong and ran well before I stored it years ago. At that time it seemed to be having trouble getting gas to the carburetor, thinking it might be rust in the tank I bought a new gas tank that has not been installed. Electric windows and seat, under dash A/C, 6 volt V8, 71K miles. As far as I know the paint is original, little areas of rust showing, interior needs to be restored. ...

Our Take:
  • 1950 marked Cadillac's post-war innovation boom: The DeVille from this era was part of the Series 62 line, a flagship for style and luxury right after World War II. Though it wasn't called the 'DeVille' in its early years, it's known for its stylish design, like the iconic tailfins and a standout chrome grille, which were quite a departure from the pre-war styling. Imagine cruising down a wide-open road with that unmistakable Cadillac presence back then!
  • Firsts in comfort and convenience: This classic ride comes equipped with power windows and seat, which was a big deal back in the day. Cadillac was pioneering these luxury features that would become standard decades later. And, naturally, it's got an under-dash A/C unit—talk about keeping cool in that Texas heat!
  • Originality counts in restoration circles: There's a certain charm to the claim of original paint, even with signs of aging like small rust spots. For collectors, maintaining that authentic touch can add a layer of history. Restoration with care can preserve those stories embedded in every little detail and flaw.
  • Classic Cadillac engine dynamics: The mention of a "good and strong" engine hints at Cadillac’s post-war mechanical robustness, though the V8 was running on a 6-volt system, which is quite rare today. The gas issue—a classic carburetor headache—demonstrates the hands-on nature of keeping these beauties on the road. A new gas tank is at the ready, which could be the ticket to reviving those vintage road trips.
