Description

I WILL NOT RESPOND TO "IS THIS STILL AVAILABLE" Dottie the 1970 Datsun 1600 Roadster in need of restoration completion. I had it shipped from Arizona to Georgia 10 years ago and she has been in the garage ever since so very little rust. New in the box Volvo disk brake conversion, Calibers and Rotors with a new master cylinder still in the box(currently no brakes).I do have all the chrome and parts to reinstall. I have way too many projects so this one has to go, thanks for looking! First...

Our Take:
  • Rarity and Nostalgia: The 1970 Datsun 1600 Roadster is part of a diminishing breed of vehicles that hark back to the golden age of Japanese sports cars. Known for its spirited performance and timeless design, this model was an early foray into what would become Datsun's praised Z-cars, making it quite the conversation starter at car meets!
  • Engineering Marvel: Equipped with a 1.6-liter, four-cylinder engine and a manual gearbox, the Datsun 1600 Roadster was all about driver engagement. It might not have the brute power of modern sports cars, but its light weight and nimble handling are what make it a joy to drive—a feeling that only manual shifters truly understand.
  • Historical Significance: This model, often overshadowed by its successor, the 240Z, was crucial in establishing Datsun's (now Nissan's) reputation in the US market. In the '60s and '70s, Datsuns were known for their reliability and sporty ambitions, making them quite a sentimental favorite for collectors today.
  • Restoration Potential: The mention of a Volvo disk brake conversion kit, along with original chrome parts, suggests a promising restoration project. For someone who appreciates a hands-on experience, this could be a rewarding project—turning what some see as "just a car" into a unique piece of automotive art.
