Description

I am selling my 1967 Volvo 122s Amazon. The car runs well, has a pinhole radiator leak (could use a new one). As far as the exterior goes, there is some rust (nothing structural) otherwise the body is in pretty good condition. The tires are old and need to be replaced. Driver-side mirror is broken/missing (fixture is there, just needs a new mirror). With respect to the interior, it’s mostly in good condition with some minor upholstery tears (patched). Our Take:
  • Classic Scandinavian Design: The 1967 Volvo 122s, often affectionately called the "Amazon," is a hallmark of Swedish engineering and design. Built during a time when Volvo was establishing its reputation for durability and safety, this car gives a nod to a bygone era of automotive craftsmanship. The Amazon series, known for its clean lines and understated elegance, was named after the fierce female warriors of Greek mythology—talk about a model with heritage!
  • Understated Power and Manual Joy: Equipped with a manual transmission, the driving experience of the 122s is both engaging and rewarding. The B18 engine, a robust 1.8L four-cylinder, was a favorite for its reliability and is often cited as a significant milestone in engine design history. Enthusiasts appreciate the hands-on control it offers—like a dance partner who knows all the steps.
  • Rarity Factor with a Twist: While over 667,000 units of the Amazon were produced, finding one today, especially in a condition that's ready to be lovingly restored, isn't quite common. This particular model has its quirks—with a pinhole in the radiator and some rust—but these are considered fixable traits for those who revel in giving classics a new lease on life. Plus, it’s not often you find one with its maintenance history intact, which gives it an extra layer of intrigue.
  • Timeless Collectible Status: The Volvo 122s has secured its place in the classic car world, often celebrated for its mix of aesthetics and durability. While this one needs some TLC—new tires and a bit of interior sprucing—it’s a canvas that can be transformed into a showpiece. Whether for Sunday drives or classic car shows, owning a piece of Volvo's legacy could be as satisfying as finding a hidden gem in a thrift store.
