Description

Selling Toyota Sera 1991. I have not been driving this car since 2018, and decided to just sell it. Because it’s not been driven for a while, it definitely requires battery&oil changes, and recommended to conduct some inspections to have it start running, and that’s why I’m keeping the process tag very low on this one. I replaced the engine and radiator in 2017, right after I bought this car, and was functioning perfectly fine. (I have all the documents for this work as well) The driver side wi...

Our Take:
  • Gullwing Doors: One of the most striking features of the 1991 Toyota Sera is its iconic butterfly doors—akin to those on a Mercedes-Benz 300SL only scaled down. These doors don’t just add a futuristic flair; they make entry and exit feel like an event. Enthusiasts often fall for the Sera thanks to this unique aeronautical touch.
  • Limited Production Run: Produced between 1990 and 1995, the Sera was a Japan-only model, adding an air of mystery and exclusivity outside its home market. Interestingly, fewer than 16,000 units were built, making it something of a unicorn on non-Japanese roads. Spotting one is a treat akin to finding a four-leaf clover.
  • Engine Swap and Upgrades: This particular Sera has had its engine and radiator replaced in 2017, which adds to its mechanical reliability—even if it's been idle for a while. The thorough documentation of this work could ease the minds of potential buyers worried about hidden surprises. It’s almost like having a veteran under the hood, ready for its second act.
  • Cultural Icon: The Toyota Sera gained cult status partly due to its appearance in various anime and JDM fan culture. If you're an enthusiast of these genres, owning a Sera is like holding a piece of automotive pop culture history. Plus, the seller's ability to source parts from Japan offers a rare opportunity for authentic restoration.
