Description

1971 Opel GT runs and drives but has been off the road for quite some time and will need some TLC. Well worth restoring. Was originally orange and there is bondo throughout, some cracked and loose. Looks to be pretty complete and the glass is good. I took a lot of pictures so please check them out. If you need any more I can send them to you. 2600.00 Come take a look ...

Our Take:
  • 1968-1973 Opel GT: A Nod to the "Mini Corvette"
The Opel GT, often referred to as the "Mini Corvette" due to its sleek, curvy design, was produced between 1968 and 1973. It's lauded for its striking resemblance to the C3 Corvette—though it's smaller and a bit more quirky. The 1971 model is part of this fascinating era, capturing the essence of European sports car design with a flair that’s still admired today.
  • A Rare Find on This Side of the Pond
Even though the Opel GT was relatively popular in Europe, finding one stateside is somewhat of a rarity today. Imported by Buick, these cars have become coveted collectibles among enthusiasts, especially when they pop up in original colors like the vibrant orange of this listing. With a healthy dose of restoration, you could own a piece of automotive history that's likely to turn heads at any meet-up.
  • Classic Manual Transmission Experience
This 1971 Opel GT comes with a manual transmission, offering that raw, connected driving experience that’s cherished among vintage car buffs. The gearbox allows enthusiasts to engage more deeply with the road, delivering a genuinely hands-on driving feel that automatic modern cars just can’t match. Plus, the familiarity of shifting gears can often be a joyful throwback for those who relish simplicity in engineering.
  • Potential for Restoration and Customization
With some TLC, this Opel GT can be restored to its former glory—or perhaps even personalized to your taste. Evidence of bondo points to previous cosmetic fixes, leaving an open canvas for a classic car enthusiast eager to showcase their restoration skills. Whether you aim to revive its original orange lustre or give it a unique paint job, standing out in a sea of modern vehicles is almost guaranteed.
