Description

Selling my BMW. It is an excellent condition. Strong engine great transmission excellent paint for the age of the car very good interior just installed a new headliner. Everything works perfectly, except for a cupholder, of course. 😂 92,000 miles. New tires @ 88,000 miles...

Our Take:
  • Long-Wheelbase Luxury: The 2000 BMW 740iL was part of the E38 generation, which is famous for being a luxury powerhouse with its extended wheelbase. It wasn't just about giving more room in the back—though, that was quite nice—the "L" in the name stood for "Lang," German for long. It's a car that exudes opulence and comfort, even today.
  • V8 Powerhouse: Under the hood, you'll find a 4.4-liter V8 engine, offering a delightful mix of power and smoothness that only a V8 can provide. It's the kind of engine that purrs on the highway yet roars to life when you give it some gas—perfect for those who love both relaxed cruising and spirited driving.
  • Modern Classic Status: The E38 series has garnered a bit of a cult following, partly because it was the last 7 Series to have the classic, clean BMW design without the bulkier features of later models. Plus, it made an appearance in several films—the car was cool enough for James Bond, after all!
  • Maintenance Stories: This BMW seller mentions a new headliner and fresh tires, which is a reassuring sign of upkeep—always crucial with older luxury cars. While everything else reportedly works great, it's almost a running joke among BMW folks that something small, like a cupholder, might act up. But isn't that part of the charm?
