Our Take:
  • Historic Significance: The 1983 Porsche 911 Cabriolet holds a special place in the brand's history as it marked the return of the open-top 911 after a long hiatus since the 1960s. Notably, this model year was the very first 911 Cabriolet produced, making it a piece of Porsche history and a collector's gem in many automotive circles.
  • Rarity and Appeal: Despite the high mileage, this particular 911 is an important find due to its familial provenance—original ownership since new adds a layer of rarity. The fact that it has a clean title along with the original tools enhances its allure for purists who appreciate maintaining the car's authenticity.
  • Performance Enhancements: Upgraded features like the MSD ignition system suggest a focus on enhancing reliability and performance. While the removal of the air conditioning system may be a downside for some, driving purists might appreciate the reduced weight and simplicity—as any track-day enthusiast would understand.
  • Condition and Maintenance: A full engine rebuild with only 16,000 miles since the overhaul is a significant plus, ensuring longevity for future adventures. The mention of minor interior wear is typical for a car of this vintage and adds a touch of character (think of it like a patina on a classic watch), while the overall excellent condition of the dash and carpets speaks to meticulous care.
