Description

Selling my 1989 Rolls Royce Silver Spur with only 70k original miles. This has the 6.8 V8 engine, automatic transmission, rear wheel drive. Runs and drives good. Overall in good shape inside and out, some minor cosmetic flaws as it is mostly all original (landau top worn). It does also have some minor things to work on hence the low price but can be driven around town. Power steering leak, low fluid in reservoirs (takes mineral fluid). Seats and some power windows don't work, will need new batte...

Our Take:
  • Legacy of Luxury: The 1989 Rolls-Royce Silver Spur is part of the first generation that ran from 1980 to 1989. It's essentially a stretched version of the Silver Spirit, with the extra length enhancing the cabin's opulence by giving rear passengers that extra country mile of legroom. Isn't that what you'd expect from a brand synonymous with luxury? In a sense, it's like having the VIP lounge on wheels.
  • Distinctive Engine: Under the hood, you've got a 6.8-liter V8, a stalwart of Rolls-Royce engineering. It wasn't just about power but rather effortless cruising and serenity at speed. This engine shares the lineage with those immortalized in the equally iconic Bentley models of the era—which makes this car a bit of a mechanical aristocrat in its own right.
  • Style and Substance: Though boasting a design that reflects the reserved elegance of its time, this Silver Spur also features a landau top—albeit a worn one—that adds to its vintage allure. It's like finding a classic vinyl with a few scratches; the charm remains intact, maybe even enhanced by its age. Perfect for those who appreciate a car with character and history.
  • Regional Provenance: Spending most of its life in sunny Florida could mean the body has avoided the harsh winters and, by extension, the salt-related corrosion commonly found on cars from snowier climes. Being a car that’s traveled cross-country to Washington, it brings a slice of British elegance to the Pacific Northwest, adding an interesting bi-coastal tale to its story.
