Description

1996 Mercedes Benz SL600 V12 w/ AMG sport package. I won’t respond to “is this still available” Hard top included 103k miles. Hard top hydraulics repaired, ADS suspension module repaired, new soft top, new battery. There are 3 dash lights that come on periodically (in the photos).. the vehicle runs great, and I’ve been meaning to find out what causes these lights but after putting $6500 into the car with the repairs above, I’m hesitant to put more money into the car. Our Take:
  • A True Powerhouse: The 1996 Mercedes-Benz SL600 is renowned for its mighty 6.0-liter V12 engine, which was quite the engineering marvel for its time. Producing around 389 horsepower, it was a beast under the hood. It's delightful for those who appreciate the smooth and robust power delivery that's become a rare thrill in today's turbocharged era.
  • AMG Sport Package: This SL600 comes with the AMG sport package, adding a dash of extra flair and performance-oriented aesthetics. While the AMG badge has become synonymous with high-performance Mercedes models, back in '96, this package would have offered unique styling cues and sportier driving dynamics—perfect for standing out on the road.
  • Advanced Features for Its Time: The SL600 was equipped with an Adaptive Damping System (ADS), allowing drivers to adjust the suspension settings for comfort or sporty handling. Considering the seller has had the module repaired, it's a testament to the car's advanced technology for the '90s. Not many cars from that era featured such sophisticated systems.
  • Collector's Potential: With the inclusion of both a hard top and a new soft top, this SL600 is a convertible that offers versatility and style. Despite the issues with dash lights, the fact that major repairs have been tended to could make this a sensible investment for those willing to put in some additional care—which, let's face it, is part of the allure of owning a classic.
