Description

This is a 1977 Toyota FJ40 in the Sicilian Olive color. Original engine has been completely rebuilt and a long list of other work completed in the local Steamboat area (see list in photos). Full disclosure that true mileage is unknown and the odometer/speedometer not working and was not working when I purchased this vehicle in 2020. I have only driven this in warm weather months and it is stored in a heated garage in the winter. ...

Our Take:
  • The 1977 Toyota FJ40 is part of the iconic Land Cruiser lineup, which has a legacy that stretches back to the early 1950s. Known for their rugged durability, these vehicles were often the ride of choice for adventurers wanting to tackle tough terrain. Even back then, the FJ40 was already building its reputation as the go-to vehicle for explorers in the most challenging environments.
  • The FJ40's color, Sicilian Olive, adds a touch of unique charm to this off-road legend. This hue gives a nod to an era where colors were as bold as the statements these vehicles made when they conquered the wild. It's a color you don't often see on the roads today, which can make this vehicle quite the head-turner at car shows or while just cruising down a dusty trail.
  • With the manual transmission, driving this FJ40 can feel like you're part of a dance—one where you're always in control, feeling every grunt and churn from the engine. Speaking of which, the fact that the engine has been completely rebuilt is a huge plus. It's like giving an old friend a new lease on life; with a sound heart, this vehicle can continue turning heads for years to come.
  • While the true mileage remains a mystery due to a non-working odometer, the low reported miles at 67,000 (if accurate) would suggest it hasn’t faced the typical wear and tear of more frequently used models. However, the charm of the FJ40 lies not in precision but in the tales it could tell—imagine the places it's seen and the stories it's been a part of.
