Description

This is one of my 'more than I can chew projects'. I bought it a couple of years ago with good intentions, but advancing age, deteriorating health and 'she who must be obeyed' dictate that I get rid of at least 3 of them so I can concentrate on finishing one! A '54 DAIMLER Conquest, with an amazingly good Silver/Blue repaint-job on a solid body . The paint job alone would probably cost over $5000! All of the interior is in good condition. Although many of the small bits (trim & fittings) are in...

Our Take:
  • The 1954 Daimler Conquest is a charming example of British motoring history. Launched as a post-war model to bring a touch of luxury to the masses, it wasn't just a car—it was a status symbol. Daimler produced these beauties to woo affluent drivers who appreciated a fine blend of sophistication and performance without breaking the bank.
  • This particular Conquest is a rarity, especially on North American soil. Originally hailing from the UK, the Daimler Conquest didn't see much export to the US or Canada, making any example found here quite a treasure. The fact that this vehicle was properly imported and registered in British Columbia adds a layer of legitimacy and intrigue for collectors.
  • The manual transmission on this car speaks to its sporty demeanor. While automatics were gaining popularity, Daimler stuck with the engaging manual gearbox, an ode to driving purists. With some tender love and care, this project could offer a wonderful hands-on driving experience reminiscent of mid-20th century automotive enthusiasm.
  • Restoration potential is high, albeit with challenges. Although not in running condition, the seller mentions that most parts (even the small trim pieces) are present, mostly tucked away in boxes. This ticks the box for enthusiasts who relish the rewarding journey of restoring a classic while potentially increasing its value. Plus, that recent silver/blue paint job could set the stage for many admiring glances once it's back on the road!
