Our Take:
  • Historical Significance: The Cord 812, introduced in 1936, was a marvel of its time—dubbed the "baby Duesenberg" due to its connection to E.L. Cord's automotive empire. Recognized for its innovative engineering, such as front-wheel drive and retractable headlights, this model was way ahead of its era. The Custom Beverly was a limited edition variant, making it even rarer today.
  • Supercharged Wonder: Originally, this model featured a supercharged 289-cubic-inch V8 engine, offering performance that few could match back then. Unfortunately, this one’s missing its supercharger, but getting it back to its original glory would be a labor of love for any restoration enthusiast—a bit like finding the missing piece of a classic puzzle.
  • Family Legacy: It's been in the same family since the '50s, which adds a personal touch to its story. With ownership spanning decades and a previous stint in storage, it’s like a time capsule, waiting for someone to open it up and relive automotive history.
  • Preservation Potential: Despite the rust, the seller notes it's "not rotted out"—a promising start for those concerned about structural integrity. With all original parts allegedly included (minus the supercharger), this Cord 812 is a restorer's dream. And while it's been hibernating in a corner, it holds the potential to shine once rejuvenated—imagine cruising down the road in a piece of art deco on wheels.
