Description

Up for sale. 1991 VW Golf GTI. It’s been swapped with a 12v VR6 out of a corrado by a previous owner. Was told donor motor had around 70k on it. The cluster was swapped with it and currently reads 72k. Speedo and odometer hasn’t worked since I owned it but the tac does. Probably needs a new speed sensor. Also has 268 cams, headers, a borla exhaust and tune. Brand new ST coilovers. Brand new Toyo tires on very nice BBS with minimal rash on one wheel. Recently did a thermostat housing, thermo stat...

Our Take:
  • 1991 VW Golf GTI: The Golf GTI from this era is already celebrated as one of the quintessential hot hatches, known for its nimble handling and sporty charm. The '91 model still carried the MK2 body style, which is often cherished for its boxy, retro look that's become vintage cool among enthusiasts.
  • VR6 Engine Swap: A VR6 engine swap is a pretty exciting modification for any VW fan. Originally found under the hood of the Volkswagen Corrado, the 12v VR6 brought a new level of performance to the mix, with its unique narrow-angle V configuration. This kind of swap isn't just about power; it's about giving this Golf a more robust growl and a twist of character that definitely shakes things up.
  • Aftermarket Upgrades: The addition of 268 cams, headers, and a Borla exhaust—paired with a custom tune—indicates someone poured a lot of passion into this GTI. These modifications aim to unlock the VR6's potential, providing sharper throttle response and a heartier exhaust note that'll catch the attention of any gearhead on the street.
  • Suspension and Wheels: Rolling on new ST coilovers and Toyo tires, this GTI is set up for both improved handling and an aesthetic boost. The combination with BBS wheels (despite a minor blemish here and there) gives it that classic VW stance that enthusiasts crave. It's kind of like the hot hatch version of wearing a bespoke suit paired with classic sneakers—a perfect blend of style and performance.
