The final iteration of a 15-year old design was from 1986 to 1989. This classic Fioravanti/Pininfarina shape has aged gracefully, while today the performance is still engaging. The 328 produces 270hp and weighs just under 2,800lbs. These are very usable vintage Ferraris that have an iconic look and are mechanically robust.
This Ferrari was built in September of 1986 and sold on November 11th, 1986 by Newport Imports (Ferrari Dealership) of Newport Beach, California. The MSRP was $70,600, about $203,300 in today’s money.
The first owner was Mr. R. Steven Peters, a personal injury attorney from Tustin, California. He kept the car for less than 10-years before it was sold to the next Southern California owner. The car remained in SoCal until 2013/35k-miles when it went to its 3rd owner in Dallas, Texas. A couple years later, it was purchased by another Orange County collector on December 29th, 2015 with 40,509 miles. This owner has a large collection of vintage cars as well as race cars. Everything is kept in a climate controlled garage here in Orange County with a full time mechanic and driver to help maintain his collection. For the next 4-years, the car was only driven less than a few hundred miles. The majority of those miles were from routine warm-up/service driving performed by his mechanic.

In total, this current owner invested $47,355 in further improving and servicing this Ferrari GTS.
This Ferrari is in excellent preservation condition. The paint looks fantastic with minimal signs of use. It appears that the paint is original. The paint meter readings are even. The aluminum front hood reads slightly higher due to the different metal surface, but no signs of paintwork are visible. All the trim and lenses look great with minimal signs of wear. All the glass, except the windshield, is original and wearing the proper factory stampings. There are no major chips or scratches. The wheels are in great original shape with no significant curb rash and a few minor blemishes. They are wearing Michelin tires dated the end of 2020 with near full tread. The brakes are nearly new, with almost full life remaining. All the exterior lights work properly.
The interior is equally as nice and well-preserved. The leather seats have no rips or tears with just some light typical wear on the driver’s exit bolsters. The headliner has a few slight blemishes. The carpet and door panels are all in excellent shape and show very little signs of use. The dash has no cracks. The gauges all work properly including the clock. The electric windows and side mirrors work as well. The passenger window moves slower than the driver’s side. Although the A/C system was recently refurbished, it could use a recharge as it hasn’t been used much over the past couple of years. A period Blaupunkt radio has been added and it works as does the electric antenna.
The engine bay is very tidy and wears its original finishes. There are no signs of significant leaks or issues. The zipper on the vinyl cover over the trunk area has separated and needs to be cleaned to properly rezip it closed. The front trunk also looks original with the space saver spare looking unused. The underside is clean and wearing its factory finishes. There are no signs of significant leaks or prior damage/repairs.
Mechanically, this 328 feels very tight and crisp. It starts easily on the first try and holds a smooth idle. Once warmed up, the gearbox shifts nicely. The shifter is very direct with a precision feel through the gates. The clutch engages properly with no slipping. The throttle response is immediate with decent low-end torque. Power is strong throughout the rev range with no hesitation. The steering feels light and responsive with the right amount of weight to it and positive feedback. The brakes have a decent bite with no fading or pulling.
This 328 GTS is California registered to December 2025 and it passes California’s strict emissions test.
This Ferrari comes with 2-sets of keys, period-vintage Ferrari leather key fob, original owner’s manuals with leather cover, original service booklet with stamps, vinyl cover for removable roof panel, original tool kit, emergency light, original jack with associated tools/vinyl cover, space saver spare tire, and original MSRP window sticker.
