Description

Nissan Patrol project. This has been sitting for quite a while, it does start and run with the choke but may need carb cleaning. Will need to go through mechanicals and bleed brakes and clutch before it is drivable. Good starting point for a rare Nissan 1 of about 2600 that were sold in U.S. Title says it’s a 1969 but from what I have read its a 68 sold in 69. See less...

Our Take:
  • Rarity and Nostalgia: The 1969 Nissan Patrol is quite the rarity in the United States, with only about 2,600 units sold here. It's not just an off-road vehicle; it's a piece of automotive history, conjuring images of rugged adventures in its heyday. For fans of vintage off-roaders, this is akin to uncovering a hidden gem from the treasure trove of classic 4x4s.
  • Historical Significance: The Patrol was Nissan's answer to the iconic Land Rover and Toyota Land Cruiser during the 1960s. It was renowned for its tough build and simple mechanics—qualities that have endeared it to enthusiasts of classic utility vehicles. Interestingly, Patrols like this one were some of the earliest examples of Japanese automotive engineering making a mark in global markets, especially in the off-road segment.
  • Unique Selling Points: Sporting a manual transmission, this Patrol offers an authentic driving experience that harks back to an earlier era of motoring. The fact that it still starts and runs, despite needing some TLC, speaks volumes about its durability. You'll need to roll up your sleeves for some mechanical work, but isn't that half the fun of owning a classic?
  • Time Traveler's Confusion: There's a bit of intrigue with the model year: the title says 1969, but research suggests it's a 1968 model sold in 1969. This kind of discrepancy isn't uncommon in vintage vehicles and adds a layer of mystery—what stories could it tell from its first roll off the production line to now?
