Description

Something like: German import Mercedes 300 TE wagon. Runs and drives well. Ac is not working right now. Rear hatch struts need replacement, but I am including new ones with the car. Driveshaft flex joint needs replaced. I have a brand new one of those as well -- just needs to be installed. Needs some small cosmetic work, but a great car overall. This will be ideal someone who is ok putting a little work into get it perfect! Only 111k miles. ...

Our Take:
  • Rarity Factor: The 1992 Mercedes-Benz 300 TE is a part of the W124 series—a lineup celebrated for its robust build quality and engineering. These wagons, once a staple of European roads, have grown rarer, especially those in decent running condition like this one, making them a hidden gem for enthusiasts of classic German engineering.
  • Cultural and Historical Significance: The 300 TE was known for its versatility and luxury, a practical choice for families who didn't want to compromise on style and comfort back in the '90s. With a reputation for being indestructible, these wagons were often the choice of choice for long road trips across Europe. It's like owning a piece of Mercedes' steadfast reputation for making cars that last.
  • Interesting Features: The model comes with an inline-six engine, which was appreciated for its smooth performance and reliability. While this car's AC and rear hatch struts need attention, the seller's inclusion of replacement parts shows a commitment to maintaining its integrity. Isn't it fascinating how a bit of TLC can bring this classic back to its original glory?
  • Mileage and Usage: At 111,000 miles, this wagon has been driven far less than many of its peers from the era, suggesting it has many more miles left to offer. Considering its age, the moderate mileage tells a story of careful use and suggests potential for continued enjoyment for the next owner—especially one who appreciates the charm of a classic Benz.
