Our Take:
  • Historical Significance: The 1959 Ferrari 250 GT Pininfarina Coupe is a noteworthy piece of automotive history, as it represents Ferrari's first attempt at a series production road car. With only 202 Series I units built, this model paved the way for Ferrari's evolution from bespoke creations to more commercially viable production models. The 250 GT's refined engineering, including its race-proven tipo 128D engine, showcased Ferrari's commitment to blending performance with everyday usability.
  • Preservation and Authenticity: This specific 250 GT, chassis s/n 01315 GT, has a remarkably preserved history, being in the possession of just a few owners since its delivery to Luigi Chinetti Motors in 1959. It stands out due to its originality, maintaining its numbers-matching engine, transmission, and differential. The presence of its original leather tool roll and owner's manual further cements its authenticity, making it a rare find for collectors who value originality over restoration.
  • Unique Aesthetic Details: Sporting an uncommon original color combination of Bianco with Grigio Conchiglia, this car originally captured attention with its elegant contrasting roof. Although it has been repainted, the car's design still embodies the timeless elegance Pinin Farina (as known then) was renowned for. The patina present on its interior and exterior lends it a genuine charm, akin to a fine wine aging gracefully.
  • Rarity and Collector Appeal: Many 250 PF Coupes have been converted into more sought-after Ferrari replicas; however, this example has remained mostly untouched. Its survival in this condition offers something exceptional for Ferrari aficionados—an opportunity to own an integral part of Ferrari's transition era. With a mostly original configuration and low mileage, it appeals tremendously to both seasoned and aspiring collectors looking for a historical masterpiece that shines with authenticity.
