Description

This is our Nissan Safari Super Roof 4x4. We had the pleasure of taking this truck over 10,000 km. The Nissan Safari, also known as the Patrol is so robust. Everything is metal. The bumpers, the door handles. These trucks were very well engineered. This Safari has the 5 Speed manual transmission coupled to the 4.2 liter Six Cylinder gas engine. It runs like a top. It has 4x4 Hi and 4x4 Lo, and it's mechanical with a lever. it also has a PTO to drive the pump in the back. The buttons and switch...

Our Take:
  • Rarity and Historical Significance: The 1995 Nissan Safari, often associated with its global moniker, the Patrol, is a fascinating mix of rugged durability and simplicity. This model hails from the Y60 series, which was celebrated for its robust construction and reliability. In today's SUV-dominated market, the Safari stands out as a tough-as-nails 4x4, largely overshadowed by the more famous Land Rover and Toyota Land Cruiser models. Its unique charm lies in its unpretentious, all-metal exterior and mechanical competence—practically shouting "built to last."
  • Mechanical Simplicity: The Safari's "analogue" design—no complicated electronics to worry about—means you're driving something as reliable as an old Swiss watch. Its 4.2-liter inline-six engine paired with a 5-speed manual transmission ensures a raw, engaging driving experience. The dual-range transfer case with a manual lever is a throwback to a more straightforward era, offering a genuine connection to the road (or off-road).
  • Unique Features: This specific Safari comes with a PTO (Power Take-Off), which is a rare find and suggests it might have been used for specialized tasks while stationed at a Japanese firestation. The Super Roof version adds to its uniqueness, providing ample headroom and special storage compartments, which are quirky touches that evoke a time when practical design was king.
  • Condition and Mileage: With just over 10,000 kilometers, this Safari is practically a time capsule. Being stored indoors for most of its life and receiving continuous maintenance has preserved its pristine condition. Such low mileage on a vehicle designed to tackle vast terrains is almost unheard of—it's like finding a needle in a haystack at a vintage car meet.
