Description

The time has come to sell my euro spec 318i M10 powered BMW. I’ve owned this for almost 5 years and have used it sporadically on weekends and car shows. I don’t drive it much and my time to deal with my cars have dwindled so I’m trying to find a new owner for this gem. The car drives and runs fine. It’s a 4 cylinder and very slow, but fun and nostalgic when you drive it. I’ve taken care of the car as best I can over my ownership, with regular oil changes, OEM parts, paint protection, etc....

Our Take:
  • Euro Spec Charm: The 1982 BMW 318i featured here is a European specification model, which adds a layer of rarity and intrigue, particularly for collectors. European models often had subtle differences in performance and design compared to their North American counterparts, such as unique headlights or distinct tuning. These nuances make them a fascinating piece of automotive history.
  • M10 Engine Nostalgia: Under the hood, you've got the M10 engine—a robust piece of engineering that BMW used across several models for years. While it's true that this 1.8-liter, 4-cylinder engine isn't breaking any speed records, it offers an authentic driving experience that harkens back to BMW's roots in building cars that celebrated driving pleasure over sheer power. The "slow but fun" vibe is all part of the package!
  • Manual Transmission Fun: With a manual transmission, this car isn't just a vehicle; it's an experience. Shifting gears manually gives you a direct connection to the road and the mechanics of driving—something that's becoming a lost art in the era of automatic everything. For those who relish the tactile engagement of a stick shift, this 318i is a throwback to simpler, yet more rewarding driving days.
  • Originality and Authentic Details: The fact that all the glass retains the original registration plate number stamps adds a unique historical touch, almost like a fingerprint of the car's journey through life. Paired with the original 13” wheel set, this BMW maintains a high degree of authenticity. It’s these small details that spark conversations at car shows and among enthusiasts who appreciate the legitimacy of classic elements.
