Our Take:
  • Rarity and Legacy: The 1985 Alfa Romeo Alfetta GTV6 is considered a gem among classic car enthusiasts, especially in North America, where it was less common than its European counterparts. Its heart, the 2.5-liter "Busso" V6, is lauded for its distinctive sound and engineering excellence—often regarded as one of the finest six-cylinder engines ever made.
  • Performance and Design: With the manual transmission, drivers can enjoy a more intimate connection with the car, reminiscent of the spirited Italian driving experience. The GTV6 was also notable for its transaxle layout, providing near-perfect 50/50 weight distribution, a feature that contributed to its agile handling and made it a favorite for touring car races in the 1980s.
  • Preservation and Maintenance: This particular model has impressive documentation, with over 40 years of service history and receipts, which is a goldmine for any classic car enthusiast wanting to understand its past life. The extensive recent maintenance, including a timing belt change and new hoses, offers peace of mind for potential buyers—no small feat considering the infamous complexity and cost of maintaining Italian classics.
  • Cultural Significance: The custom wheels, described as era-appropriate, add a touch of personal style while respecting the car's period-correct aesthetics. This attention to detail reflects a cultural appreciation that many Alfa owners cherish; it’s not just a car, but a reflection of a particular time and place in automotive history—almost like stepping back into the vibrant automotive world of the mid-80s.
