Description

BMW 2002 Tii in excellent unrestored condition. This is a gem. Recently tuned and oil change and safety check by Boyd Motors in Portland. This car runs great, everything works. Sunroof, Recaro bucket seats. I love this car but I have too many cars and I have to part with a few. New tires all around. I just had a 107 point pre purchase inspection completed by 2002 BMW experts in Portland. All good, except tires that are being replaced at my cost. No trades, no financing. Serious BMW buyers ...

Our Take:
  • Rare and Revered Model: The 1973 BMW 2002 tii is a beloved classic among BMW enthusiasts; it's often considered the car that really set the stage for BMW's reputation as the "Ultimate Driving Machine." The "tii" stands for Touring International Injection, a nod to its pioneering use of mechanical fuel injection, which was quite advanced for its time.
  • Performance and Driving Experience: Equipped with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, the 2002 tii delivers a spirited driving experience with its 130 horsepower—a respectable figure back in the early '70s. The car's nimble handling and manual transmission make it a joy to drive, especially with its tight, sporty suspension setup.
  • Original Features and Condition: This particular model being in "excellent unrestored condition" is a treasure trove for collectors. Original features like the sunroof and Recaro bucket seats add unique character to the vehicle, and those familiar with vintage car restoration know how rare it is to find such features intact and functioning.
  • Cultural Icon and Collector's Item: The BMW 2002 was not just a car; it was a statement piece in its era—often seen as a symbol of youthful rebellion and counterculture. Enthusiasts in the modern era consider the 2002 tii a bona fide collector's item, often showcased at classic car shows and sought after for its blend of simplicity and performance.
