Description

Rare Volvo 1800es wagon in very Good condition. Low miles.. NOT Running. Engine does not turn over with battery. The wagon has been sitting for approximately 20 years. So it's out of DMV system. Has a salvaged title. Body is straight. Shiney paint (gold color) and chrome. Front seats need to be upholstered. Headliner and back seats still in good condition. The wagon is sitting on brand new tires(just purchased). Low miles on the vehicle. Some small areas of bubbling to paint(rust) at rear window...

Our Take:
  • Rare Wagon Design: The 1973 Volvo 1800ES is a gem for collectors, not just because of its rarity, but also due to its unique "shooting brake" design. This model was only produced for two years—1972 and 1973—making it a highly sought-after classic. It combined luxury with a practical hatchback style, which was quite ahead of its time.
  • Historical Connection: The 1800 series gained fame as the vehicle driven by Roger Moore in the TV series "The Saint," though he drove the coupe version. This wagon variant carries the same sleek lines and vintage appeal, offering a nostalgic trip back to the early '70s—a time of bold automotive experimentation.
  • Notable Engine and Transmission: Equipped with a B20 engine, known for its reliability and simplicity, this Volvo came with a manual transmission that features overdrive—a desirable option for spirited drives on open roads. However, potential buyers should keep in mind the engine doesn't currently start, hinting at a restoration challenge (or adventure!) waiting to happen.
  • Overall Condition and Potential: Being non-running with a salvaged title, it's clear this Volvo needs a little more than just elbow grease to get back on the road. But, considering the straight body, shiny paint, and newly purchased tires, there's a solid foundation here for a car enthusiast (especially if you're handy with a wrench). Remember, tackling rust and upholstery could be part of the rewarding journey to restore this classic.
