Description

1994 Ford Taurus SHO, 5 speed manual, only 87,500 miles. Great condition- body is in great shape- no rust or rot. Interior is in great shape, sunroof is bone dry- zero leaks. Runs great- just replaced ECU and cam sensor. Only reason I'm selling is because I no longer have a place to store it. Car has clean MA title- comes w/ car cover, and extra crank sensor(used). Would prefer to sell to someone who appreciates this car or another SHO enthusiast. Serious inquiries only please- please do ...

Our Take:
  • The 1994 Ford Taurus SHO (Super High Output) is quite the gem for enthusiasts who appreciate the blend of practicality and performance. The SHO model was a sleeper in its day, hiding a 3.0-liter Yamaha V6 engine under its hood—a true collaboration between American and Japanese engineering. This engine delivered a surprising 220 horsepower, which was impressive for a family sedan back in the early '90s.
  • With only 87,500 miles on the clock, this particular SHO is quite the find. Given that these cars were often driven hard (thanks to their performance capabilities), finding one with relatively low mileage in good condition can be akin to spotting a unicorn. The owner's description suggests careful maintenance, which is crucial for a car nearing its 30th birthday.
  • The manual transmission is a rare treat in this model, especially since manual gearboxes were already on the decline by the mid-'90s. For driving purists, the 5-speed manual is the key to unlocking the SHO's playful side, making this particular car a great catch for those who relish a more engaged driving experience.
  • Interestingly enough, the SHO's development was a bit of an automotive oddity. Ford initially intended for this high-output engine to power a Mustang; however, when plans shifted, the Taurus became its unexpected home. This odd twist of fate makes the SHO a fascinating footnote in automotive history—one that's appreciated by connoisseurs who love a good backstory.
