Description

Rare to find in this original condition, original California car. I am the 4th owner of this barely driven car. Just crossed 100k. The car is automatic 2-door car with original AM radio. I never painted it cuz I liked the distressed look. This car is a classic, if you want a head turner that won’t break the bank check this out. Needs a little tlc but mechanically sound. Runs great. Pls no time wasters. ...

Our Take:
  • A Swedish Gem: The 1966 Volvo 122s, often lovingly known as the Amazon, is a quintessential representation of Swedish automotive design from the mid-20th century. While Volvos are famous for their durability, this model holds a special place in history as one of the vehicles that established the brand's reputation for safety and reliability.
  • Rarity in Transmission: The automatic transmission in this particular 122s adds a layer of rarity. Most models from this era came with a manual gearbox, making an automatic version a bit of a unicorn in the Volvo world. It's an intriguing feature for those who appreciate both vintage charm and ease of driving.
  • Originality and Patina: With what seems to be its original paint intact, the car wears its age like a badge of honor. This untouched, "distressed" look not only tells many stories of its past life in sunny California but also adds a layer of authenticity that collectors often crave. It's like finding a gently worn leather jacket with just the right amount of character.
  • Cultural Icon: The Volvo 122s played a significant role in globalizing the Volvo brand, and it quickly became a favorite among families and rally drivers alike. Known for its strong presence in motorsport events back in the day, this car is more than just transportation—it's a slice of automotive history that carved the path for Volvo's future successes.
