Our Take:
  • Quirky Design and Limited Production: The Subaru Baja, produced only from 2003 to 2006, is a unique hybrid of a truck and a car—kind of like a mullet, all business in the front and a party in the back. Its oddball design, combining a four-door cabin with a small pickup bed, didn't find a huge market initially, which makes it rarer today. For anyone looking to stand out in traffic, this one's a real conversation starter.
  • Manual Transmission Fun: This model boasts a 5-speed manual transmission paired with Subaru's all-wheel-drive system. Enthusiasts love the tactile connection of rowing through gears, especially in a vehicle that offers Subaru's renowned stability and handling. It's a bit like having dessert before dinner—you know it's a treat, and it just makes everything else that much sweeter.
  • Engine Work Already Done: The 2.5L naturally aspirated engine is known for its reliability, but the infamous Subaru head gasket issue has already been addressed here. That’s like getting the final piece of a jigsaw puzzle handed to you. Plus, the long tube headers add a deeper growl to the exhaust, giving it that little extra spice for your daily commute.
  • A Diamond in the Rust: While the rockers have severe rust and there are some trim and minor safety issues, these could be viewed as character marks for a restoration project. Consider it a challenge—like finding hidden treasure beneath the surface. The Baja's seats are noted for comfort and versatility, which, in this case, might be considered the cherry on top.
