Description

The time has come to part with my 2005 Aero, now with just a shade under 49,000 total original miles. Not engine miles or any of that phoney baloney, but total miles since new. I bought car just about 4 years ago with close to 29,000 miles. It has not been winter driven more than 1/2 dozen times in my ownership. It was not winter driven by the previous original owner in Virgina. I am not taking the interior apart to prove. The car is spotless underneath. Maintenance since I have owned the car in...

Our Take:
  • Rarity and Shared Heritage: The 2005 Saab 9-2x Aero is an intriguing blend of Swedish branding and Japanese engineering. Born out of a collaboration between Saab and Subaru, this model is essentially a restyled Subaru Impreza WRX. It holds a unique place in automotive history as Saab's only foray into all-wheel-drive hatchbacks, making it a rare find for both Saab enthusiasts and rally-inspired car lovers.
  • Low Mileage Gem: With just under 49,000 miles on the clock, this car is remarkably low-mileage for its age. For those familiar with the Saab-Scooby crossover, you'll know that finding a well-preserved 9-2x Aero is akin to stumbling upon a unicorn in the car world—especially one that's been taken care of with careful maintenance, as highlighted by the owner's meticulous attention to detail.
  • Engine and Performance: Under the hood, the Aero variant hosts a turbocharged 2.0-liter flat-four engine, which is a nod to its Subaru origins. Despite its automatic transmission, it still offers the spirited performance synonymous with the WRX lineage. It's got that classic boxer engine rumble that fans of all-wheel-drive pocket rockets can appreciate.
  • Condition and Ownership History: This example boasts a clean bill of health with recent comprehensive maintenance, including a new timing belt, water pump, and more. Furthermore, the car's minimal exposure to winter conditions and its cosmetic blemishes—like the unfortunate keyed quarter panel—make it a solid choice for someone looking to preserve or restore a piece of niche automotive history.
