Description

(Trades/obo) 1978 Saab 99 in rare laguna blue with gray interior. Odometer is functional showing 38k. Floors and rockers are very solid with some bubling/rust showing near fenders. This car was in few TV shows and music video and Spent alot of time in storage. I drove it around town about once a month. Will need overall TuneUp/TLC to be road ready. Comes with some spare parts and a Clean NJ title. Can assist with shipping if needed. Walkaround Youtube video: https://youtu.be/_6fz0JAadao?si=...

Our Take:
  • Unique Heritage: The 1978 Saab 99 is a cornerstone in the history of the Swedish automaker, transitioning from the predecessor 96 to its successor 900. This model was a pioneer for its time—Saab’s first to feature a hatchback design. It’s like finding a rare vinyl from your favorite band; it’s cherished by enthusiasts for its role in shaping Saab’s future designs.
  • Color and Condition: The laguna blue color is quite a head-turner and was not the most common choice back in the day, making it a bit of a unicorn today. The description mentions some bubbling and rust near the fenders, which isn’t unusual for a car of this age. Still, its solid floors and rockers give it a decent foundation for restoration or keeping as a preserved classic.
  • Cultural Footnote: Having appeared in a few TV shows and music videos adds a touch of celebrity to its backstory—almost as if this car has had its own mini-Hollywood career. This might not make it a red carpet star, but it certainly adds intrigue and a few conversational bragging rights.
  • Collectible Potential: With only 38,000 miles on the clock, this Saab is like a time capsule waiting for an enthusiastic custodian. The automatic transmission is less common in collector circles (often favoring manual), but it offers a slice of late '70s innovation. Plus, it comes with spare parts and a clean New Jersey title, which could be a real bonus if you're thinking of bringing it back to its former glory.
